2-Day Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Meeting with Women Leaders in Benue State.

November 18, 2025 wanep-nigeria No Comments WOMEN/ GENDER PEACE & SECURITY

Over two transformative days in Makurdi, women leaders from Yelwata, Daudu, and other conflict-prone communities in Benue State came together under WANEP-Nigeria’s Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Meeting.

The sessions created a safe and reflective space for women to share lived experiences, confront trauma, and co-create strategies for recovery and peacebuilding in their communities. This session was facilitated by experts like Dr. Victoria Egwor Daaor and Mr Nathaniel Msen Awuapila, the dialogue focused on self-awareness, indigenous non-violent approaches, and community reconciliation emphasizing that healing is both personal and collective. From storytelling to action planning, the meeting reaffirmed the transformative power of women’s leadership in rebuilding trust, restoring dignity, and driving peace from the ground up.

Peacebuilding begins when we choose to heal together.
