THE UNTOLD STORIES: The Dilemma of Women in The Agro-Pastorialist Conflict in Benue State

September 24, 2021 Publications, WOMEN/ GENDER PEACE & SECURITY

Women are not a homogenous group, so in conflict they play various roles depending on the situation they find themselves. They are the ones who bear the brunt of the conflict, so they can bring a wealth of practical knowledge to the peace table because of their understanding of the challenges faced by civilian populations and the most effective ways to address them. Women can no doubt improve the prospects for sustainable peace.

To enable WANEP – Nigeria achieve its objective, we applied and were primarily supported on the project ‘’Working with Relevant Stakeholders to Promote Peace in Benue State” by our partner Urgent Action Fund- Africa.

We appreciate the efforts of Urgent Action Fund- Africa for the Prompt response to mobilize women to speak out against the agro-pastoralists conflict in Benue State.

This publication “The Untold Stories: The Dilemma of Women in the Agro-Pastoralist Conflict in Benue State” is a contribution to the body of literature from the fteld principally to document the experiences of women in the IDP camps. However, it can serve as a resource and an advocacy tool for those interested in the promoting the rights of women on one hand and Preventing the abuse ofwomen both in ‘peace’ time and in conflict situations.
